If we had to give an award for the "rawest" home generator we have ever laid our on - it would be this one: the Porter-Cable 5250 Watt Portable Generator from no other manufacturer than Porter-Cable. As soon as you see a picture of this product, you'll know why. Absolutely nothing is kept hidden from the owner - much like a vehicle which has purposely been stripped of its' bonnet.
We still aren't sure whether we prefer to see each and every engine component - or whether this just makes the machine downright ugly. Perhaps we should hold that opinion until the end of the review, when we'll all have a better idea of what this machine is capable of.

Powering the Porter-Cable generator is no small feat, and this model relies heavily (actually - it relies solely) on the 10 horsepower, air cooled engine. We this it's amazing that the Porter-Cable 5250 Watt Portable Generator is able to produce so much power - whilst requiring so few virtual horses. It seems that the manufacturer is on to something exciting here - as this is the type of efficiency that a more mainstream manufacturer would be jealous of.

The Porter-Cable 5250 Watt Portable Generator has borrowed a number of technological advancements off its partner company - Briggs & Stratton - and these are visible in this particular model.
The 5250 watt generator has a brush-less alternator, which ensure consistent power is driven to appliances - without a fluctuation or energy density issue occurring. Furthermore, the motor is stationed on a frame with wheels, making it easy to move around (OK - so it's not technology - but it's still handy).
Finally, the entire system is backed by a 1 year, return to base warranty - which provides peace of mind should something adverse occur inside your machine.
