Power Output
The average American home needs a supply of 5000 to 7000 watts of power during a power cut for the essentials to continue to run. Thankfully, a smaller than average home will likely be covered by the Honeywell HW4000 allowance of 5000 watts.
Keep in mind however, that 5000 watts is the surge power rating - and that the continuous power production of the machine is lower at 4000 watts. This is an important note - and is the main reason why we specifically mentioned a smaller than average house above.
Engine Details
Producing the 4000 continuous watts of power is a 4 stroke engine with a 242cc rating. Honeywell have treated us on this model, offering not only the typical low oil notification system, but a whole host of other engine add-ons - such as a fuel gage, AVR, and overload protection.
All engine components are covered by a comprehensive 3 year warranty - and during the time we spent testing this machine - we felt that it was a genuinely solid and durable generator. We are therefore confident that you'll never have to use the warranty during the product's lifetime.
Onboard Technology
Honeywell always does well in the technology section, and the HW4000 is absolutely no exception. This model presents consumers with a refreshed, user friendly interface - which many people don't even consider when it comes to home generators.
For example, the HW4000 features a smart start system, with color coded starting controls. Additionally, the manufacturer has reinvented the power control panel - and it really couldn't be easier to use. The onboard oil funnel is also a welcomed touch.
